MEDIAN

Median (middle) numeric value in cells, ranges, or data fields. Non-numeric values (text, blanks, errors) are ignored.

Function syntax

MEDIAN(input1, ...)

Arguments:

  • input1, …: One or more numbers, cells, ranges, or data fields.

Examples

  • MEDIAN(C10:E15) - Median of numeric values in C10:E15.
  • MEDIAN(revenue{}) - Median value in the revenue field.
  • MEDIAN(revenue{continent{“Asia”}}) - Median revenue value where continent is Asia.
  • MEDIAN(revenue{continent{“Asia”}}, cost{country{“France”}}) - Median across Asian revenue and French cost combined.
  • MEDIAN(A1:A4) - If A1:A4 contains 10, 20, 30, 40, returns 25. For even counts, returns the average of the two middle values.
  • MEDIAN(A1:A5) - If A1:A5 contains 10, "hello", 20, blank, 5, returns 10. Text and blanks are ignored.
